Driving during Halloween can certainly be scary. Not only are there ghouls and goblins to worry about, but there’s also an increased number of pedestrians. That’s why we at Crossroads Chevrolet have created a post about Halloween safety tips. OnStar will even offer fun, special recordings for you to enjoy this Halloween.
According to Chevy, OnStar worked to created scary yet funny recordings to prepare you for a zombie apocalypse, how to stop a werewolf, and how Edgar Allan Poe might use a Chevy Silverado. In all seriousness, there are a few important things to keep in mind during this year’s Halloween.
First, slow down in residential areas. Many children walk by themselves during Halloween, and, because the holiday is exciting for kids, they may not look both ways when crossing the street. Being a defensive driver could save a life.
Next, remove distractions from your car so you’re alert behind the wheel. Put your phone on silent mode and store it out of sight while driving. Keep music to a minimum to ensure you can always hear clearly, and avoid eating or other activities that may require you to take a hand off the wheel.
Finally, most trick-or-treating hours are during 5:30 to 9:30pm, so avoid driving at this time. If you must drive, pay careful attention at intersections, on medians, and near curbs. Also, enter and exit your driveway slowly to avoid any accidents. These are some of the many things you can do to stay safe while navigating streets during Halloween.
