Independence Day is one of the most exciting holidays of the year, and in West Virginia there are many ways to spend the weekend by going to events, visiting memorials, and of course seeing the fireworks! Here are some fun West Virginia Fourth of July events to go to this year.
Newport News will hold a Fourth of July celebration in the Abbitt Planetarium for a unique way to celebrate the holiday, and just about every county will set off fireworks, but there are plenty of other fun things to do.
For instance, from July 1st through the 4th you can visit Snowshoe to check out the Homegrown Music Festival and enjoy some all-American Appalachian music leading up to the holiday. You can also take the Fireworks Train from Romney to Moorefield to see the fireworks display there. You’ll travel along the Potomac River and maybe see a bald eagle!
There’s also the Greenbrier Fourth of July Celebration, which takes place at America’s Resort. It includes pie eating contests, parades, and lots of activities and will go from July 3rd all the way though the 9th.
