The Chevrolet Cruze sedan debuted an all-new generation last year that quickly skyrocketed the nameplate to popularity thanks to its affordability, convenient size, and modern amenities. Now, Chevy decided to kick things up a notch with the new 2017 Cruze hatchback. The model will make an appearance at the upcoming North American International Auto Show, but Chevrolet went ahead and dropped some information and teaser images on us in a press release that showcases all we have to look forward to in the new hatch.
The 2017 Cruze hatchback is set to have all the comforts and amenities we know and love in the sedan model while also adding a new, sportier choice to consumers who like the Euro-inspired sport hatchback look. Additionally, a new diesel engine option will be available and can be paired with an all-new, available nine-speed transmission or a six-speed manual. The hatch has been selling in other markets where hatchbacks are more popular for a few years; now that the craze has been catching on in the US, Chevy reps felt it was time to introduce the hatchback on American shores.
The 2017 Cruze hatchback will be getting here sooner rather than later thanks to a fall 2016 release date. Buyers will be able to opt for the hatchback model on the Cruze LT and Premier trims, and the hatchback can also be equipped with the RS package.
