Everyone knows that dogs are our best friends, so it’s important that we take care of them when we’re traveling. It isn’t always easy to pack up your little friend into your car, so here are a few tips to make the experience a little bit better.
Bring a Crate
Crates are a great way to keep your dog safe in a vehicle. They prevent them from falling and being tossed around when you’re turning. Pick one out that is big enough to allow your dog to stand, turn around, and lay down.
Avoiding Car Sickness
Car sickness is a pain for many pets—and their owners. If car sickness is a problem, don’t allow your dog to eat right before getting into the car, and open the windows frequently to allow fresh air into the car. You can also let your dog sit in the car before leaving to help it get used to being inside the vehicle.
Also, stop frequently to allow your dog to use the bathroom, and instruct your children to not bother the dog during the ride.
As long as you follow these tips, traveling with your dog will go much smoother, and everyone involved will be a little bit happier.
